Steelwork for our tanker unloading bay has now commenced in Basingstoke and will be ready for handover to the mechanical team shortly.
Mick Renshaw, OLG’s Head of Civil & Structural Engineering, commented that it has been one of the best EPC projects he has been involved with. “The relationship between engineering, site, and the PM team has been excellent. Simon Powell our Construction Manager and Martin Renshaw our Project Manager are excellent communicators, and they facilitate as well as manage, the whole team has been able to perform at their best levels because of that.”
Mick added. “It may look a simple project before the kit goes in, but some of the details that have come from the HAZOPs have required the site and engineering team to work together to produce the safest solution whilst meeting programme. You can only do that with a great design and build team relationship, and that includes the sub-contractors who have also bought into the philosophy.”
It isn’t just the steelwork that is enabling the mechanical team to start work on site, the acid tank bund is also near completion, and in the next couple of weeks the third external C&S package will link the other two together and enable the pipe rack, tanks, and process equipment to be installed.
