OLG Engineering would like to welcome Tony Thomas to their team.
Tony joined the company on 1st March in the Immingham office after previously working in a Senior Piping Designer role at Engie Fabricom, OSL, and Jacobs amongst other local companies.
He has worked in various sectors including Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Offshore, Nuclear and the Water Treatment industry. Over the last 7 years Tony has specialised in the use of 3D software packages such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Solidworks and Navisworks, in addition to incorporating the use of laser point clouds.
His responsibilities range from leading and developing the piping team and building upon existing skills and experience to ensure that clients’ needs are met in a timely and efficient manner. The use and customisation of 3D software and supporting applications across all disciplines that are fully integrated and cohesive will be key in achieving this objective.
Tony said, “I first started my journey in the design industry with On Line Design & Engineering in March 1985 when the Pelham Road office first opened. In those days, A0 draughting machines and adjustable set squares were considered hi-tech! It is great to see that the company has evolved and changed with the times, to offer leading edge solutions and flexibility to clients in today’s ever-changing markets.
It’s also good to know that On Line has played their part over the years in nurturing new generations of designers and engineers by regularly taking on apprentices and graduates. I’m so grateful to the many people that helped me back in the day, now it’s my turn to do the same.
It feels like coming home, after a long time away, seeing old colleagues and meeting new ones, made me feel very welcome and settling in was very easy.”
Tony, who lives in Brigg with his wife Julie and son, Jai, enjoys fly fishing in the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District, as well as playing table tennis in the Scunthorpe and District League.
