Blackrow Group and On Line Group Ltd (trading as OLG) are proud to announce the formation of a strategic partnership, aligning their combined strengths to deliver end-to-end engineering solutions across the UK’s major industrial regions.

This announcement follows the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves’ 2025 Spending Review, which sets out substantial government investment in energy and transport infrastructure – a timely backdrop for a collaboration of this scale and ambition.

With over 100 years of shared experience, the two organisations bring together a collective annual revenue in excess of £75 million and a skilled workforce of more than 600 people. Across six strategic sites – including locations in Grimsby, Immingham and Leicester – they operate over 250,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity, serving the UK’s largest industrial clusters. The partnership integrates design, engineering, fabrication, installation, and mechanical services, delivering a comprehensive and complementary offering to clients nationwide.

The collaboration also reflects a shared commitment to future-proofing the industry. Between them, Blackrow and OLG support over 50 apprentices across six disciplines, ensuring a strong pipeline of talent and expertise. The two companies are actively working towards ISO 44001 certification, further formalising a collaborative model that places shared success and client value at the core of operations.

Blackrow Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to achieving carbon net zero through enhanced energy efficiency, the adoption of renewable energy, and continual improvement of operational processes. The company plays a vital role in the renewables sector, with experience in designing and fabricating components for wind turbines, solar installations, and biofuel plants – tangible evidence of its dedication to sustainability and technological advancement.

The new alliance also aligns strongly with the Government’s renewed focus on decarbonisation and clean growth. The Humber region – where both businesses are firmly rooted – is widely recognised as a hub for industrial transition, with flagship projects in hydrogen, carbon capture (CCUS), and green energy infrastructure now earmarked for government support. Blackrow will lead on installation and mechanical services, while OLG will provide design and project management, ensuring seamless project delivery from concept to completion.

Tony Booker, Managing Director of Blackrow Group, commented:

“This is a momentous and proud milestone for Blackrow Group. At the heart of our ongoing success lies collaboration, which is critical to achieving the ambitious growth we have set for the future. This partnership enhances our ability to deliver engineering excellence not only within the Humber region but across the UK, providing unmatched value to our clients. With over 100 years of combined expertise, this alliance strengthens our offering and positions us for continued success in the years ahead. Ultimately, partnerships are about people, and we are fortunate to have an exceptional team who are passionate and ready to collaborate on the exciting projects ahead.”

Barry Taylor, Managing Director of OLG, added:

“This is a significant and proud moment for OLG. Collaboration is a key factor in our ambitious growth plans and considered vital to deliver the anticipated activity within the Humber Region and across the industrial sectors in the UK. The aligned and complementary services this partnership now offers creates synergies and value for our clients which we firmly believe can only enhance our clients’ experience. Our businesses have been providing industry leading engineering services both locally and nationally for a combined 100 years and I truly believe this alliance will enhance our mutual competitive advantage and deliver success for the next generation. Partnerships are about people and we are lucky to have some outstanding people who I hope will be excited to work together on our upcoming projects.”

This partnership sets a new benchmark for industrial collaboration – strengthening the UK’s engineering supply chain at a time when cooperation is widely regarded as essential to delivering the scale and complexity of forthcoming infrastructure projects. It is a shared investment in innovation, sustainability, and long-term growth – not just for the businesses involved, but for the communities, clients and sectors they serve.
