OLG are delighted to announce an investment in excess of £100K which will provide a state-of-the-art replacement clustered server solution, and an upgraded and externally hosted VOIP (voice over internet protocol) telephone system. The contracts have respectively been awarded to nearby companies Care Micro Systems based in Scarborough and NGC Networks, in Leeds.
The replacement server solution will see 16 virtual servers hosted within an internal 10 Gig network infrastructure backbone with the capacity to store almost 30 Tb of data. To complement this, backup/restore solutions capable of running at lightning speeds will take hourly snapshots of all servers if anything needs to be quickly restored or servers rolled back.
Our commitment for the expansion of OLG Consulting resources will see new servers introduced and data merged into our cluster, a 1Gb ethernet extension will be installed between Immingham and Colden Common, to facilitate seamless working on projects common across all offices as seen with all other satellite OLG sites. OLG Consulting’s telephone system will be replaced and become part of the OLG VOIP telephony system.
We worked closely with the successful suppliers to ensure that the proposed solution meet the requirements of our 27001 certification, which requires full documentation of any proposed changes together with detailing any contingencies that may need to be followed should something not function exactly as planned.
We will be working diligently with our suppliers to ensure a smooth transition to the new system which is planned to go live at the start of March 2023.
