OLG Engineering have just undertaken a structural inspection for a GFS Tank prior to shipping to Australia from the UK.
The glass fused to steel tank required inspection on behalf of an Australian client, Arcos Group, who entrusted OLG Engineering with the work, as both parties’ engineers have worked successfully together on other projects across the globe.
- The inspection covered the following points:
- Review of the manufacturer’s ITP
- Witnessing of plate manufacturing process (including spark test)
- Sample glass coating thickness
- Sample dimensional checks on plates at various stages of manufacture
- Sample dimensional checks on fabricated angle components
- Sample dimensional checks on wind girder components
- Review of material certificates
Mick Renshaw (OLG Engineering Head of CS&A) said, “This work has showcased our inspection capabilities in addition to our design, installation, and construction skills. A number of our engineers have spent time both on site and in fabrication shops and this resulted in OLG Engineering being the first port of call in the UK to undertake this work.”
Lachlan Swann (Arcos Principal Civil Engineer) added, “We needed a partner in the UK for this project and the working relationship and their trusted expertise was the main reason we worked with OLG Engineering.”
