Instrument Design Engineer, Paul Hockney is due to retire after serving 9 years with OLG Engineering.
64-year-old Paul, who is based at P66 Humber Refinery, has been with the company since September 2013.
Paul has been married to Ange for the last 40 years and has two children and three grandchildren. His hobbies include drinking Cider, listening to music, going on holidays and by his own admission “making a noise with a guitar!” – he confessed he wouldn’t call it playing!
In Paul’s own words he said, “It is a long time now since I started my training with the YEB in 1974 as an Apprentice Overhead Linesman at the Manston Lane Training Centre in Leeds. That was followed by 35 years at the Courtaulds Site, Grimsby in various roles, moving in 1987 into Instrument & Electrical Projects where I have worked ever since. Following redundancy in 2013 I joined On Line Design and Engineering as an Instrument Design Engineer and was seconded to the Phillips 66 Humber Refinery in 2016 where I have been until the present day.
All the jobs I have been involved with over the years have been interesting, and sometimes very challenging, but I have enjoyed them all immensely. However, the best memory I will take away is of the fantastic and talented people I have worked alongside, many of whom I have been proud to call friends. There have been many people who have given me good advice, and a helping hand along the way, and I will always be grateful for that.
It’s now time for me to take things a bit easier and spend more quality time with my wife, children and grandchildren. Babysitting duties beckon but I am sure we will find time for the odd holiday, and there is a long list of DIY jobs! All the very best to all.”
OLG Engineering would like to wish Paul a very long and happy retirement!
