On Line Group would like to congratulate Process Engineer, Barney Thornton of BPE Design & Support, for recently completing the National Three Peaks Challenge, together with a group of friends in aid of the charity, MIND.
In Barneys own words: –
“The pandemic has really tested us over the past 18 months, and I think something that has been made abundantly clear, is the importance of maintaining good mental health over the lockdown.
I know a lot of people have really struggled with their mental health on a personal level, and on an international level, we’ve seen the rates of depression doubling during the period of the pandemic.
That’s why the charity MIND was so important for us as a group, they really have been at the forefront of this pandemic, making sure that everyone can access the crucial information and support needed to help them through it. I personally know people who have used these services and they have found them incredibly helpful during their recovery.
MIND, are also one of the leading campaigners for spreading the awareness of mental health, encouraging people to speak out and ultimately seek the help they need. They lobby the government and local authorities on our behalf on matters such as: investing in community services, reforming the Mental Health Act, and providing a financial safety net for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
They really are a wonderful charity and we’re very proud to have raised so much money for this cause. I would like to thank everyone so much who donated and sent supportive messages. It is difficult to describe (those who have done similar events will know) the boost in motivation that this gives whilst doing these types of challenges.
Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to finish the challenge within the 24hr time limit, finishing it in 28hrs 10mins. Although we were disappointed to not finish within the time limit, we are incredibly proud to have completed the challenge, we gave it absolutely everything!
We had a surge of donations while on the mountains, so the total money raised to date is £3,133.63.
This is just amazing, and far surpassed any of our expectations when we first set our target at £500.”
On Line Group have donated £50 to the Charity and would like to say a huge well done to Barney and his friends on raising money for such a valuable cause.
