Structural Engineer

OLG Recruitment is currently looking for a Structural Engineer for our client located in Immingham. Our client has been established for over 40 years operating as a leading UK Engineering Consultancy, supporting blue chip clients within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, nuclear, speciality chemicals & steel sectors.

The client’s head office is located in Immingham, North East Lincolnshire, with satellite offices based in Daresbury, Colden Common and Grimsby.

Role Overview

The role will require client facing skills and site visits during design and construction, excellent design skills and the ability to see safety and quality assurance as integral to the engineering process. You should be comfortable switching from conceptual design to detail design depending on the scope of work.

A background in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Nuclear or other industrial sectors would be ideal, however, someone from a more traditional consultancy background with significant experience in structural steelwork, foundation design and an interface with mechanical equipment would also thrive in this environment.

Standards and Codes of Practice:

  • Thorough knowledge of Eurocodes for steel and concrete design.
  • Working knowledge of BS5950 & BS8110 for historic structures

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years post graduate structural design experience is required, with experience of delivering complex projects.
  • Ability to design using use and StaadPro, Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, comfortable with 3D modelling environments
  • Ability to provide best value solutions to complex engineering problems in a multidiscipline environment.
  • Thrive on working within a team environment and be able to do this remotely using digital platforms when required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects of varying sizes

Requirements:

  • A Batchelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, (masters would be an advantage)
  • Chartered or working towards CEng with either IStructE or ICE.
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to work in the UK
  • Effective communication skills
